Howdy all, so I collect historical photos and try to find the story behind each one and the people in it. Recently I posted two photos here while trying to learn about the Japanese held Island of Truk. But in doing research I began to suspect that the photos may be from a different island in the Truk atoll. So I am looking for any help in identifying the details on an officers uniform who surrendered in one of my photos, any clues we can find may help me search records of commanding officers and pinpoint which island these photos were taken and better fill out the real stories behind the images.

So I suppose my real question is what do you notice about the uniforms in this photo? (mainly the officer the photo is centered on but if you notice anything about the men in back don't hesitate to bring it up.)

I would like to sincerely thank anyone to takes the time to look this over, it means the world to me to be able to definitively match a photo to where it came from and the story behind it and this will be a great step in finding this photos true story.
