I know the impact of lend lease on the eastern front is an often talked about subject. I was wondering if the many trucks that the United states was able to send made the USSR more motorized than the Germans. I know that many of the German infantry divisions relied on horses for transport of their artillery. And i assume that at the beginning of the war the Russians were not a significantly motorized army given how large their army was.
So i was wondering if due to lend lease then Russians were able to field a larger portion or their force as motorized divisions than the Germans. And if so do we know When in time this shift would have taken place?
I could not find the source (history.com?) as it has been 2 years though I remember reading that roughly 100,000 lend-leased Studebaker trucks were used in Operation Bagration to motorise Soviet infantries. Furthermore, the lend-lease trucks did help the Soviet war production to prioritise on producing more offensive vehicles like tanks.
Sorry my response is not comprehensive but I would like to share it anyhow.
