In comparison to the colonies of other nations, the Ex-British colonies seem to be relatively more stable. Most seem to be largely stable democracies. Is there any reasons for this. Was it a difference in British colonial policy? Or is it to do with the period after Decolonisation. (This question is directed towards Africa)
More stable than where?
Zimbabwe, (part of) Somalia, Gambia and Sierra Leone were all British colonies. None are currently particularly stable.
In the wider world, Pakistan, Yemen, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Fiji have all had recent bouts of instability, and all were part of the British empire.
Is there any correlation between British imperialism and post-colonial stability?
