When was the temperature first recorded?

Well, the "spirit-in-glass" thermometer (aka the Little Florentine Thermometer) was invented in 1654, and they started to standardize how and when to record temperature. Prior to that, open-ended thermometers had been in use for a century or two; I'm not sure what kind of standardization and temperature scales they had, if any.
