I was wondering what the different cities of Sumer and Akkad did with their dead, specifically with the lower classes. I've heard and seen much about the royal tombs, but have we found any ordinary citizen's tombs? Did any cremate their dead? Were there Sumerian cemetaries? Any sources and literature would be appreciated.

Afaik people were buried in cemeteries and in houses, though I'm not an expert in this area at all! There are a few resources that you might useful though; ETANA is a searchable database of free articles & books on the ancient near east - http://www.etana.org
J N Postagte's book 'Early Mesopotamia' is a good introductory text which I'm 90% sure has a section on death & burial.
Harriet Crawford's 'Sumer and the Sumerians' is another good general book. Marc Van De Mieroop's History of the ancient near east is the go to general book - it will probably have something. He also has a book 'The Mesopotamian city' which might be useful.
A good public library should have at least some of these introductory books at least.
For a more specific book you're looking at academic texts and unless you have access to an academic library these can be expensive and hat to access - this volume looks interesting if you can find a copy

I'm sorry I can't offer anything more specific, burial practices aren't my area of study but as no one else had replied I thought you might at least find some resources helpful! you probably already know but just in case: For the time period you specify using the terms Third Dynasty of Ur or Ur III period when searching may be more useful than just 'Sumerian' if you are looking at these dates in particular.
