Usually they will either provide one or at least advise you on what they expect on the authenticity before you start. If they want you to show up to the interview in costume they will usually explicitly say so. They don't want one soldier in a crappy Halloween costume next to another soldier in a $1000 commissioned costume. However individual places have different budgets and expectations, it wouldn't hurt to contact them to clarify though.
