If you're interested in the early modern era, you have to first accept that records are really incomplete even in areas that are very well-studied comparatively, such as western and central Europe. If you then want a global view, things are even worse as you are forced to extrapolate in order to gain analysis.

All that said, Geoffrey Parker's "Global Crisis: War, Climate Change and Catastrophe in the Seventeenth Century" is quite a good read. However, it depends on your level of knowledge and your willingness to learn.

Maybe try Charles H Parker's Global Interactions in the Early Modern Age, 1400-1800 (Cambridge 2010) or Subrahmanyam's Explorations in Connected History (2005) or Victor Lieberman's Strange Parallels Volume 2? It depends a bit on what you're looking for; there's a lot of ways to approach the era.
