I'm curious how in depth they go (after all Germany is rich with much more history) and how the German acts were viewed post-war by those in education. Also, did teachings differ between west and east Germany because of the different governments?
From talking to German friends, at least since the 1980s there has been a strong focus on teaching about nazi atrocities in the German school system that continues to this day. There is also now a greater focus on teaching about German resistance to the nazi regime, and my understanding is that immediately after the war, resistors were viewed as traitors. I'm not sure exactly when that shift happened.
