Would love to get reading recommendations on how Mediterranean piracy impacted trade and the economy of the region, from the 1500s to the 1600s.

Given your flair, I don't know if you use the International Medieval Bibliography. If you're on a campus, do a keyword search for "corsair." The IMB is great when it comes to keywords and I definitely think that it's the best research database in terms of usability.
There's been so much written about Mediterranean piracy in the last few years. Getting the most recent article and looking up what they cite should be pretty useful.
Search term piracy works well too. Personally, I love Emily Sohmer-Tai's research if you want to go earlier, she's a wonderful scholar.
