Was Lincoln's use of war powers (suspending habeas corpus, etc.) abuse of power or fair use?

by BlackendLight

Giving the precedents and powers at the time of the US civil war, did Lincoln act justly or unjustly in his actions such as suspending habeas corups and others (I've heard that the blockade was one but I don't know and I don't know of much else lincoln did).

We had a good post that covered this a bit not long ago, here: https://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/comments/3guqak/did_abraham_lincoln_ever_order_the_jailing_or/

There's a link in there to an older discussion as well. I think you might find that helpful! = )
