Slavery and Freedom

by Slytherynno

Is the European ending of slavery and the American Civil War the only times in history where one racial group fought and died to free another racial group? I've been reading about slavery among the Ottomans, Zulu, Qing and Aztecs and I was wondering if something similar to the abolitionist movement in the 18th and 19th centuries had happened at any other point in any other society.

Thanks!
