If you know anything interesting about Richard then please post that I'm really interested in him, but my question is mainly to do with their relationship. The quote below confuses me, is this Richard saying he planned on conquering Jerusalem, assuming no resistance from Saladin, and would then order no hostility towards the Sacarens?
Not an answer to your question, but if you have an interest in the relationship between Saladin and Richard the Lionheart, and, by extension, the Third Crusade, I would recommend The Crusades by Thomas Asbridge. It covers the entire history of the crusades, but focuses heavily on the Third Crusade. I think you would like it.
