Is this a homework question?
Glasnost or "openness" brought a general relaxation on censorship within the media and had previously the classified history opened. Perestroika or "Restructuring" brought multi-candidate elections (although there was still only one party), made the USSR generally more 'democratic', helped foreign investment in the Soviet Union and gave permission for privately owned businesses. Now this isn't all that was done but this all i can think of off the top of my head.
