The FAQ isn't much help because I'm not looking for good documentaries (unseen footage, great narrator, etc.) but for accurate documentaries. For example, China: A Century of Revolution is supposedly a good documentary about China during the 20th Century, but it has this map which shows Manchuria as part of the Empire of Japan in 1937 but not Korea, even though Korea was a protectorate while Manchuria was only controlled indirectly. I mean, how do you fuck this up? What's the point of maps if you can't get the simplest things straight? (Never mind that South Sakhalin is also missing.)
So, are there any documentaries out there that I can actually trust? I'm interested in any time frame and any topic; 15th century chalcography, Walter propulsion submarines, Sumerian law, whatever.
So, this never took off at all, but nevertheless there is a user-approved list of documentaries to be found in the book section. You can be sure that there won't be any crappy documentaries there, and probably nothing about aliens, but the nature of documentaries makes them tricky in the full-accuracy-regard.
