When did human civilization become advanced enough to spread ideas around the globe? And who were the first people/things to be known around the world instead of just in a village or local area?

To clarify, I don't mean to ask about things like fire or tools that were probably discovered separately all over the world. I'm talking about specific things that were able to make "news" all over the ancient world.

You may want to narrow this down. Most of Europe didn't know about the Americas until Columbus, and I doubt news from China ever hit the Congo until a few hundred years ago
