Like so many of you gathered here I spend way too much time playing paradox game. In my latest one I had great fun as a Messalian because who doesn't like some legal, Christian incest? But it got me wondering, is there any historical evidence to support the Messalian incest? I tried googling it and wikipedia only gave me "Their critics accused them of incest, cannibalism and "debauchery"[11] but scholars[which?] reject these claims.[12]" which sadly does not help much. Most other links are about how to play as a messalian in ck2.

So I have come to you, r/askhistorians with the question: Is there any factual evidence for the incest among Messalians as displayed in CK2?
