So I've been doing a little research lately with a mind to improvement of my 9th century Norse kit (I'm a member of the SCA). A little background, the persona being created is a Norse colonist living in the Orkney islands during the mid 9th century. Hunting is something I'm exploring in the context of the period, and for that I need a quiver, of which there is scant information on for this time period and culture.

Now I've seen a few papers talking about possible birch bark quivers from the finds at Nydam, but these are several centuries removed from my time period. Much close, both geographically, and temporally, is the Scar Boat Burial find.

I've seen mention several places of a quiver found at the burial, the only info I've found so far though is that it contained 8 arrows, and the term quiver is always used, but nothing more. No material composition, no description of construction, nothing... An email sent to the museum that houses the find was never responded to, and my Google and other searching has been to no avail.

There is a book with information about the artifacts found in the burial, but I have no access to a copy (nor does the ILL system in my area), could some kind soul with a copy (or better yet someone who's seen this quiver first hand) fire off some information for me to use to try to make a quiver based off the find.

Any info on other quivers from the "Viking age" would also be fantastic!
