I have read a fair amount about the Vietnam War but most of it has been anecdotally driven. Any recommendations for a more general analysis of the war as a whole from start to finish?
Here's a few suggestions:
Stanley Karnow, Vietnam: A History
John Prados, Vietnam: The History of an Unwinnable War, 1945-1975
Mark Atwood Lawrence, The Vietnam War: A Concise International History
A good overview book is: William S. Turley The Second Indochina War: A Concise Political and Military History (Lanham: Rowman & Littlefied Publishers 2009).
