I recall one of the reasons Rohm was executed was that he's considered "too socialist". Hitler had the backing of industrialists, and those industrialists didn't like Rohm's view. After Nazi became the ruling party, Hitler seem to remove a lot of his old comrades from a position of power.

So how close (or far?) the resemblance between the pre-ruling and ruling Nazi Party's ideology? How ideologically similar was Ernst Rohm and later Nazi political elites (Himmler, Goring, etc)?

Was there ever a time when the name NSDAP (National Socialists Deutsches Worker Party) stayed truth to its name--a "socialist" "worker" party?
