I often read recommendations for Dan Carlins Hardcore History on this site but see little mention of the Chinese history podcast. It has over 160 episodes (about 30 minutes on average) and seems to have a good mix of a general overview while also having episodes for going into detail for specific topics.
What i want to ask this subreddit is is the podcast not mentioned due to lack of awareness or is it because those more in the know than I have judged the content to be sub-par?

Less so in /r/AskHistorians, I'd imagine. The podcast has a bit of a bad reputation here for being pop history to a fault (inaccuracies, glossing over details etc).
Lazlo does alright but you shouldn't take it to be too definitive. He researches well enough and cares about the subjects, but it's not without mistakes and over-generalisations. I'm not sure what his full range of resources is, but some topics he only really touches the more superficial aspects.
Still, it's a good introduction and for certain topics he does go more in depth.
Also on a personal note, he kinda messes up on some points about the languages.

That's mostly it, but it's also still a podcast and for a general audience so it's not really going to be held in as high a regard as something that can be a bit more strict on the details.
