I'm not sure how allowed this is on this sub, but there's a really good CGP Grey video that outlines the whole lineage of the Royal family from William the Conqueror to the modern day. It's a really good starting point, as it sort of explains how each monarch came into a claim to the throne, and since it lists all of them it's a good resource for learning more about any particular era. My only real qualm with it is that it doesn't bother to distinguish between different English dynasties (since they're all traced back through the same lineage).

It also glosses over a lot, since his channel is for wider appeal than just history buffs, but for simple genealogy it's great.
