So around two years ago CNN made this documentary called "The Sixties" and this year they made "The Seventies". Since I realized they were done making them, I decided it was a good time to binge them. But since I'm not a history buff, I was just wondering, are they biased toward anything? I know CNN has a liberal pull, which I don't mind, and (I watched up to the 3rd episode) they ride everything JFK did, like he was an ethereal figure (slight exaggeration). Maybe I'm being paranoid or something.
In regards to history, there is no such thing as an unbiased source. Every author or creator generally has some bend or aim. In this case, the CNN documentary does seem to have a liberal bias, especially in this documentary. If you feel paranoid or don't think you have a complete picture, try checking sources with a more conservative bias when dealing with the 1960's. I don't know any reputable sources on the top of my head, but this may be a good place to start to find some.
Sometimes, its even better when you can look at the primary sources (speeches, articles, ect. written during a specific event) yourself and come up with your own conclusions. For example, was Kennedy truly a ethereal figure? By reading eye witness accounts, letters, or speeches, you may be able to come up with your own conclusions. Try this speech to start with.
