What was the population of black people in Germany pre-war, and during WW2?

We've always heard that it was a small percentage. How small are we talking? Did Germany do regular census like the U.S.?

I don't know the exact figure. But from Eugen Kogon Die SS Staat, he mentions the imprisonment and sterilisation of a few thousand. Mostly French & Belgian soldiers who had settled in the Ruhr area, after the French/Belgian occupation of the area. There was also small communitties in major port cities like Hamburg.
