Hi there l, I am a BBA student currently in my final year. I have decided that I am not going to pursue MBA after this but has instead decided to go for another course. I am thinking about majoring in History since It is a field of interest for me. Should I opt for a Masters degree in History after BBA? Would there be any hurdles? Another thing is about jobs. I am not interested in being a teacher. What other job opportunities does people with a masters degree or PhD in history have?
It all depends on the area of history you want to study.
You should (not 100% required, but very much a good thing to have) be able to academically read the language(s) that your primary source works will be in. If you wish to study history of your native country then you can forgo this requirement.
Honestly in my experience there are very few jobs in the field. If you have no interest being a prof or teaching in general then you could try for some civil service or any other job which lets you display the critical thinking and all the x factor skills you should have acquired while in university.
As someone who is finishing a masters degree now I am not going in for a phd as it does not make sense time wise or money wise, there are no jobs, though I study a fairly niche area so it is easier if you have really high grades and study "sexy" history.
