There is a song by Iron Maiden named 'Alexander the Great' it teaches the history of him in the song. He is not somebody I now a great deal about but I am interested to learn more.

I really enjoyed Philip Freeman's 'Alexander the Great'. Its presented like a narrative rather than an academic textbook, but it is still very careful about making it clear what we know happened, what is speculation, and what thr author thinks happened. Thoroughly entertaining, to the extent where when I finished I was really sad in the same way as if youd just finished a great engrossing fiction book
