I know a decent amount about the New Kingdom, but very little about the old and middle kingdoms and how all 3 eras tie together. What is the best, and accessible, book that gives an overview of ancient egypt?
The book list suggests The Oxford History of Ancient Egypt, put together by Ian Shaw (it's an anthology), and I tend to agree. It's a decently easy read that gives you a 'complete' overview of Egypt's history from pre-settlement times to Roman rule.
