Are you asking about the possibility of something like that being plausible? If so, I would say yes, now I can't give you any examples of "successful" intellectual revolutions, but if you look at the German revolution of 1848 then you can clearly see it is tangible for the intellectual elite to begin and succeed in revolting against a government, that specific revolution failed due to the time it took for the professors to decide how the new state would exactly look. But they basically succeeded in gaining power, even though, as per usual they didn't get to hold it.
