Hello, my name is Thomas Mutton. I have been carrying out research into my ancestry as far back at the late 1600's to which I've had success. Thankfully my ancestors records such as baptisms and gravestones still exist. As good as that may be that's not currently why I'm here.. I am currently doing research into a Jamestown settler called Richard Mutton. Originally from London, he was recruited by Captain John Smith and sailed on the Susan Constant to help found what we know as Jamestown.

There is an article here http://historicjamestowne.org/selected-artifacts/the-first-casualty-2/ regarding a skeleton found in 2004. It's of a young teenage boy. By process of elimination it could be either Richard Mutton or James Brumfield. I have found a baptism for a Richard Mutton (spelt Mvton) in 1593 in St Bride's, Fleet Street, London, England. This would put Richard at around 14 years of age in 1607. I cannot find any concrete info on James although many say they were around the same age..

I don't have a specific question but I would like to know more about Richard and James. I am reaching out to anyone who knows more about this subject. Perhaps someone out there knows more than what I can find by just doing an internet search.
