To clarify what I mean, Was HIV a problem within... say Spartan men who had homosexual sex with each other?
I understand HIV is a recent name for it but is there any evidence of such disease(maybe even similar ones) within homosexual men in the past? I.E a conspiracy says HIV was introduced by the CIA to homosexual men during the 60s-70s.
In other words, has such disease always been significant in the "homosexual men" community? Is it a natural occurrence?
You seem to have the misunderstanding that HIV is a homosexual disease. It is not. It is sexually transmitted, and it was first noticed in the US among the homosexual community. However, worldwide, its predominant victims are heterosexual. There is therefore no reason why it would be a disease that homosexuals throughout history would have. Plus it hasn't existed in humans that long. It's likely been around for less than 100 years in people. Scientists studying the origins of HIV place it as being a monkey virus that made the leap to humans around the early 20th century. Probably through a person eating the undercooked meat of an infected monkey or ape. This probably happened on several occasions, which is why there are several different strains of HIV. At this time in African history, population density was increasing as cities grew, and HIV was transmitted from person to person through blood. The first blood sample we have of HIV is from 1959.
