Sokrates was executed before Aristotle was born. However, Plato was one of Sokrates' greatest disciples, and Aristotle, in turn, was Plato's student. All three were Athenians, so Aristotle would no doubt have been able to interact with many others who had known Sokrates (and with hundreds of people who had been on the jury that condemned him to death).
