This is an odd one...are there any Japanese-language sources going over "State Showa" and the fanaticism of Japanese people toward the emperor?

Discussing the fanaticism among Japanese civilians and soldiers (kamikaze attacks, children taught how to sharpen bamboo spears and charge at Allied soldiers), how much they worshipped Hirohito, is widespread among the English-speaking internet. I'd like to know if any Japanese or Japanese-speaking historians have touched on the subject.

You are thinking of State Shinto. "Showa" is the reign name of Emperor Hirohito. I wrote a bit about this here.
