A pretty dire one.
In 1933 about 9.5 million Jews lived in Europe, making up about 60% of the total Jewish population world-wide. With about 6 million Jews killed during the Holocaust, the world-wide Jewish population lost about 40% its total through the Holocaust and about 2 out of three in Europe.
With whole communities gone, several centuries old traditions and populations were completely wiped out and simply vanished in the Nazi death camps.
As far as the impact goes, this year, several media outlets reported that the global Jewish population was nearing its pre-Holocaust numbers again.
