If you specify which periods, I am sure the many able experts on this board can help you with general histories of their specialties. Unfortunately, there is no general history of the world that I can recommend. You could also check the List of Flaired Users and contact directly those with expertise in the fields that interest you.

Here is a resource of recommended reading. without knowing what specific periods you are interested in you're not going to get a much better answer than what is available on that list.

What period of history are you interested in ?

I didn't specify any periods because there's way too many, easier to refer to them as a whole. Was looking for a list of texts that would relate to historical times so if one day I was like 'hmm I don't know a lot about feudal Japan' then I could look it up.
