Ok so recently I have been playing a strategy game called total war shogun 2 that is based off of the warring states period if injapan. This time period is really interesting to me. I was just wondering if there is anywhere in books movies/docs or online where I could learn more about this time period.
If you want something that will be a starting point, I suggest War in Japan 1467–1615 by Stephen Turnbull. It's short, an easy read, had photos and maps, and will give you some ideas of where you should be looking next. I think it's a good introduction for someone who's just looking to start learning about the period.
And if you end up enjoying the read, Turnbull is somewhat well known for his approachable histories of different topics in Japanese history around that time. Good overviews, really, but nothing too crazy detailed.
The Cambridge History of Japan does a decent job as well, but that's going to be way more expensive for you to get a hard copy (if hard copies are your thing) of and will be a bit denser reading.
That's my suggestion of where to start.
