Were all those who thought for Japan in WW2 ethnically Japanese or did they like the Germans recruit others to fight for them?

The Germans recruited members of other nationalities to fight for them. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waffen-SS_foreign_volunteers_and_conscripts. Did Japan ever try to increase their ranks with other ethnic groups in a similar manner considering they were less racist than the Germans.?

Hundreds of thousands of Koreans served in the Japanese military. In fact a number were convicted of war crimes.
