We've had a number of threads on this. To avoid repetition, I will point to my answer here as well as this thread. My disclosure is that I've worked on Edison's papers, in transcription and research for annotation, so I have looked for such information. I can, of course, confirm that Edison was brusque and litigious, but his relationship with Tesla was not one of actual rivalry (when it was anything at all). Tesla found Edison to be shockingly crude in his methods and manner; Edison found Tesla to be temperamental and moody, if not elitist. However, neither tended to diminish the achievements of the other, and the communications that do exist are familiar but cordial (with a hint of collaboration on some things).

I remain convinced that the villain in Tesla's story about the Edison Electric Co. is Sam Insull, but it got transposed to Edison in posthumous biographies because writers assumed he must have been the only person really in charge when he wasn't. I suspect the only way to add more grain to this is for someone to go and look at Tesla's own wildly multilingual papers in SE Europe.
