I'd prefer more recently published (at least within the last 20 years) books, if possible. Slightly more interested in west than east, but no specific region in mind.
Interested in daily life, diet, clothes, etc. Serfs and free. Religious practices, social mores, expenses. All that.
I've tried Internet searches, but often have difficulty sorting out which bit applies to which century. Even when looking for info on the wealthier.
I can't link here because I'm on my phone but: A Time Travelers guide to medieval England, gives a great insight in the life of the nobles, peasantry, the city life, what they ate wore did during the day etc. And everything really. Good read! Even better on Audiobook if I may say so!
I've seen A Time Travelers Guide to Medieval England mentioned here quite a bit. Perhaps someone who has read the book and knows more about the subject matter than me could weigh on in it. The Ties that Bound is a bit more of a scholarly approach if that's what you're looking for. It's from 1986 but it's still good.
