As to that specific phrase, I can not attest, but the word "galore" is one of the few words in English to come from Irish Gaelic; "go leor". It means pretty much the same in English as in Irish, basically "a lot" or "a bunch" or "a shitload". If you had, in Gaelic, "airgid go leor" then you had a shitload of money.
