Basically did monarchs always refer to themselves in plural or is it just for special occasions? And when was royal "we" even established, really?
This is an interesting question OP. I have a related question: did monarchs and others who used the 'royal we' mean to denote that they were speaking for themselves and their office, or themselves and their subjects?
