What did the Ancient Persians call the Roman Empire?

by MarauderM

So I'm not sure if anyone knows this, but I want to know, what did Persia, preferably the Sassanids, call their main rivals, being the Romans. Did they have a special name that was different from what Rome called itself? Like how Rome called them Persia, even though they called themselves Iran.

Hope this makes sense, thanks :)

They called it Rome (or Hrōm in Middle Persian). They used the same name anacronistically for the Greeks, e.g. referring to Alexander as the Caesar of Rome “Aleksandar Kēsar az Hrōm”.
