What is a text (film/poem/novel/speech etc) that really demonstrates the changed perspective of society during the Cold War?

by trooper1988

After the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki the world was undeniably changed in both a political and social sense. As part of a project, I am looking for a piece that can be related or compared to Waiting for Godot; a play that provides a literary insight into Cold War attitudes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This site has transcripts of the hearings of the House Unamerican Activities Committee. Pete Seeger's is especially interesting.
