Hello, I was recently watching a college football game, and i noticed the university of georgia's fight song was to the tune of "I've been working on the railroad".... being such an old university and based on my limited historical knowledge, could this be a reference to Sherman's march to the sea and the burning of Atlanta and its railroads?...
It's actually "Glory Glory," which is set to the tune of the Battle Hymn of the Republic
Actually, the University of Georgia's fight song is Hail to Georgia. We do however play Glory, Glory often (which is the one you are referring to that is set to the Battle Hymn of the Republic). If you listen at a UGA game the band will play Glory, Glory after a touchdown, and then Hail to Georgia after the PAT (extra point).
