This question may sound weird, but I have read somewhere (I don't remember where) that the pharaoh had to periodically "fertilise" (with his own seed) the Nile in public. Is there any evidence for that?
I think I may have found a source for your belief, but I've not so far found any academic sources that support that particular religious activity.
