Hello, my wife will be doing an activity with her high school students next week involving Jack London's The Call of the Wild. One element of this activity involves packing an imaginary dog sled. She has had a terrible time finding a clear list of the sort of items that a dog sled would typically contain (a long distance, 1 man prospecting sled like the ones mentioned in the novel). She was also wondering what the average weight of such a sled would be and, if possible, what the weight of each item would be.

There's a pretty interesting packing list at https://www.monticello.org/site/jefferson/lewiss-packing-list, which shows what the Lewis & Clark expedition packed for their trip, which was about 90 years earlier, but into a similarly unknown wilderness. A gold miner is going to probably skip all of the scientific instruments (and gifts for Native Americans), but the basics of survival (food, weapons, blankets, etc.) are likely to be unchanged. This was for a group of 10-15 men, so you'd need to adjust accordingly for a single individual.
