I worry this question asks for an answer that is impossible to compute or to quantify. Historian Crane Brinton guessed that in the original 13 colonies, 1/3 were passionately for and 1/3 were passionately against. We will likely never have as reliable a way of measuring the number for as the number most violently opposed as the war ended: 70K exiles left the colonies for other parts of the British Empire.
