Did the Germans ever treat American POWs nicely, instead of torturing them?

by ZX_OLO

I remember reading a while ago that there was this one German officer who instead of torturing American POWs for information, treated Them with kindness. Is this true? And was he successful?

Are you referring to normal PoWs, or captured spies/intelligence agents? Because the Germans were still bound by the Geneva convention and generally did not abuse or torture their American or British PoWs, at least not as standard policy.
