I'm thinking of getting a tattoo, and I have an ancestor who was a very noted duelist. He used a pair of pistols he called "Death without a Priest." I'm thinking of getting a tattoo of two crossed pistols, but I'd like to get something appropriate to what he would have used. His name was John "Fireball" McNamara. Most duelist would have used a set of Flintlock pistols in ther duels. Where they would have varied in is in the quality and intricacy of their design. Cheaper sets would have been pretty simple, like the one I linked, and made out of wood and iron. But more expensive sets could feature intricate etchings, gold foil, and ivory. But all of this would have been for show, as the mechanical workings of the pistols would be remarkably similar.
