The Kaiser was at first excited about the rise of Nazi Germany. He believed that the swell of national pride in the German people would allow him to reclaim the imperial throne. Of course the Nazis had no intention of doing this. For one Hitler had no intention of sharing power as well as many German people saw the monarchy as one of the main reasons why Germany lost the Great War. Over time the Kaiser and the Nazis stopped communicating with one another. Wilhelm became increasingly appalled by the Nazis use of power and atrocities such as Kristallnacht making him "ashamed to be a German." I can supply sources later as it is midnight right now and I'm very tired.
