Yes! Many fled across the French border and were interned in France. One of the ways to get out of the internment camps there was to volunteer for the French Foreign Legion. The famed 13th DBLE had a large number of veterans from the Spanish Republicans. I previously wrote a piece on them, and the rest of the Legion during WWII, which you can find here Many who remained in France but avoided capture joined the FFI to continue the fight that way (someone else would have to explain that though), but I would note that nearly 10,000 Spanish Republicans dead in German Concentration Camps.
