Was the Pharaoh of the old Testament the same guy that had to duke it out with the Sea Peoples?

by UNICY

I guess the question is self explanatory.

Also, any info on the Sea Peoples in general would be awesome. I just started hearing about them and I'm fascinated to get my hands on anything you guys recommend that might be good reading.

The pharaoh in the old testament is often considered to be Ramses II, and while I will not comment on whether the evidence is strong for this connection, or the historical evidence for Exodus itself,

I will say as one of the 'candidates' Ramses did fight Sherden sea peoples, but that was part of a anti-piracy campaign in his second year of reign, and not the great battle of the Delta/Djahy in 1175 BC. That was Ramses III.
